Creating Videos from PowerPoint 2010 Presentations

One of the enhancements to PowerPoint 2010 is the ability to create a video directly from a PowerPoint presentation. This option allows you to create a full-fidelity video that you can distribute on a CD/DVD, over the Internet, via e-mail, or with a flash drive. The resulting video will incorporate all recorded timings, narrations, animations, transitions, and media. Depending upon your intended distribution method, you can select from three different display sizes: 1) 960 x 720 pixels, designed for computer and high definition displays, 2) 640 x 480 pixels, designed for Internet and DVD playback, and 3) 320 x 240 pixels, designed for portable devices. Regardless of the display size you choose, the video will be output as a Windows Media Audio/Video (.wmv) file.

To create a video from a PowerPoint 2010 presentation, from the File tab of the Ribbon, choose Save & Send, followed by Create a Video as shown in Figure 1.

In the Create a Video task pane, adjust output and timing settings as necessary and click Create Video. In the resulting dialog box shown in Figure 2, enter the appropriate file name and the folder into which you want the video file saved.

Once you have saved the video, you can distribute it for other to view.
