A Great Way To Support Clients On Different Editions Of QuickBooks
Users of QuickBooks: Premier Accountant Edition 2010 and QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 10.0 Accountant Edition have a feature that makes supporting users on other editions of QuickBooks as simple as a single mouse click. This feature, known as Toggle, allows you to change the user interface to any other edition of QuickBooks. Once you have toggled to the other user interface, you can see exactly what your client is seeing. Further, you can toggle back to the Accountant Edition of QuickBooks as quickly as you toggled to the client's edition.
To use Toggle, from the File menu select Toggle to Another Edition... as shown in Figure 1.

In the resulting dialog box shown in Figure 2, select the edition of QuickBooks to which you will toggle and click Next.

Figure 2 - Selecting to Which Edition of QuickBooks You Will Toggle
When toggling to another edition of QuickBooks, QuickBooks will close the current data file and reopen it in the user interface selected in Figure 2. Once opened in the toggled user interface, you will only be able to execute QuickBooks commands and functions that are available in that edition of the software. For example, because QuickBooks Simple Start does not allow users to create Sales Tax Groups, you cannot toggle to Simple Start from another edition of QuickBooks and create Sales Tax Groups in Simple Start. However, you can create Sales Tax Groups in another edition of QuickBooks and they will be visible and accessible if you toggle to Simple Start.
To return to the Accountant Edition of QuickBooks, select Toggle to Another Edition... from the File menu and choose the Accountant Edition. Then click Next to begin the process of returning to the Accountant Edition of QuickBooks.
For those who support multiple clients on different editions of QuickBooks, using the Toggle feature in the Accountant Edition is a great way to ensure that you are always seeing exactly what your client is seeing in QuickBooks. Toggle is just another reason why most professional accountants should use the Accountant Edition of QuickBooks.
