In a long-awaited move for Verizon subscribers and other cellular customers who want to use an iPhone on a network other than AT&T’s, Verizon announced on January 11, 2011, that it will begin offering Apple’s iPhone. Both the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have been reporting for months that Verizon and Apple have been working together on a version of the iPhone 4 that will work on Verizon’s CDMA network. The only real question was the timing of the announcement.
