Office Tools Professional, which provides practice management software, conferences, the My Office Today web and print resources, and full-service information technology solutions to small and medium-sized firms, has released a new product offering called Client Portal and Client Portal Lite.
Most commonly known as a “client web portal,” these products allow for SSL, 256-bit encrypted data transfer between accountant and client. They are hosted in fully SAS70, HIPAA and FINRA compliant data centers. A firm can send data directly from Practice Management to the portal. Clients are sent an email link with login information for downloading the file. Additionally, clients can login directly from the firm’s web site or from a firm-branded portal and upload nearly any file to their accounting professional.
While the Client Portal Lite offers only file transfer capabilities, the Client Portal offers additional built-in features. Firms can message clients, produce email campaigns, and allow clients to pay their invoice balances directly from the portal. Other features include project status updates along with due date and estimate reminders.

Users need to order Client Portal or Portal Lite as an add-on, with pricing starting at $320 per year for unlimited clients and 5GB of transfer each month.
